Brothers & Sisters of Christ,

The Annual Undie Sunday (or month if you prefer) is upon us once more! If you are unfamiliar with Undie Sunday, during the months of September through October, clothing items are gathered at Christ United Methodist Church and taken to the House of Carpenter in Wheeling where the items are then distributed to those in need in our community. Undergarments and socks are very much in need and comprise the items that are collected.

The House of the Carpenter has some specific sizes that are in short supply this year:

  • underwear: all genders and sizes (men’s undergarments and undershirts size small and medium especially)
  • bras: all sizes
  • Socks: all sizes for children, youth, and adults (both male & female)
  • diapers: all sizes
  • baby wipes.

This year, the Undie Sunday collection will be held on October 22, 2023, at Christ United Methodist Church at either the 8:30 or 11:00 a.m. service. If you have any of the items listed above to donate and plan to attend service, this particular Sunday is the day to bring them. Please drop your donations in the HOC bins located at the Chapel entrance and in the Narthex. You may also drop off your donations during regular office hours Tuesday – Friday, 9:30 am – 4:00 pm, at the church beforehand.

Whether you attend Christ UMC or have never stepped foot inside the church, anyone can donate to this cause. The more donations received by the House of the Carpenter, the more help is provided to the community. Help us expand God’s kingdom by loving and supporting our brothers and sisters in the community who may be struggling. Even just a simple pair of clean socks or underwear can make a huge difference in someone’s day.

If you have any questions about Undie Sunday, please contact the church office at (304) 242-2455.
