Opening Ourselves to Grace is a Lay Servant Ministries Advanced Course. The course features short video instruction teamed with guided focus-group discussion. This one-day seminar helps servant leaders embrace and communicate to others the basic Christian practices known as “means of grace” which draw us to Christ and keep us rooted in him.
Participants in the course will:
- Learn the characteristics of God’s grace which forms the divine-human relationship;
- Discover the basic Christian practices which help us make time and space for God in our lives;
- Learn to apply the General Rule of Discipleship of the Wesleyan tradition through engaging in works of piety and works of mercy;
- Discuss the works of piety and how to participate in them;
- Explore the works of mercy and ways to minister through them;
- Develop a personal plan for engaging in a small group for ongoing discipleship
This advanced course is open to both lay people and clergy and is approved by Disciple Ministries for certification renewal. The course can also be used by Local Church Lay Servants to be certified as Certified Lay Servants.
