I am discovering already that Christ UMC is gifted with many creative souls in our congregation. As much as I enjoy writing prayers and the weekly call to worship, I would like to share these opportunities for creativity with all of you. After all, liturgy is meant to be the work of the people!

-Perhaps you aren’t comfortable being the liturgist during worship, but would be interested in writing or offering a call to worship or a prayer to be shared by the morning liturgist during worship.

-Perhaps you already serve as a liturgist (or would like to). You likewise might have some words, some literary or lyrical piece that has meaning for you which you would like to share in a morning worship service.

You may wish to offer an original prose or poem, or a piece by a favorite author. It could even be the words to a beloved song. I dare say that even among the literary and musical arts we consider “secular”, many people find words of sacred worth. If it stirs the sacred in you, if it inspires or assures your own faith in some way, I would love for you to share it with us!

I know that many of you have gifts in the area of visual arts. If you have an original or favorite piece for display on the altar or in the digital slides used in worship, these are also welcome!

If you are interested in sharing an opening prayer, offertory prayer, or call to worship to be used in our worship service, please contact Pastor Joe at jhill75cumc@gmail.com or at 304-840-1923. I look forward to hearing from you!

Yours in Christ,
Pastor Joe
