Christ United Methodist Community – You Are Invited!

On Sunday, June 8th, immediately following the combined 10 a.m. church service, we will be hosting a luncheon at the church to celebrate our departing pastor, Rev. Jake Steele, and his family (Emily and their children Brody and Bethany).

There are three items we need your help with:

1. Please RSVP by Friday, May 30th to christumcwheeling@gmail.com or sign up on the bulletin board if you can attend the 8 June lunch. Please include the number of guests in your group with your RSVP message.

The lunch will be catered by Bob Bailey, owner of “As You Like It.” The meal will include fried chicken, rigatoni with red sauce, buttered red potatoes, green beans, tossed salad, and rolls & butter. Dessert will be a sheet cake.

    2. We are planning a special program for the Love & Celebration of the Steele luncheon.

    (a)  We are creating a slide presentation to celebrate the Steele family’s time with us. Please share photos, short videos, and music files to help us build a comprehensive and fun media presentation for Jake. If you are able, please upload photos, etc., to this shared Google Drive: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1WDHpGLAt8XisEhgOAMty1OxijBgOQSv9/view?usp=sharing

If you are not able to upload your photos to Google Drive, several members of the planning team can help you. You can email your questions and/or photos, etc., to Diann Nickerson, our Family Life Coordinator (nickerson246@gmail.com) or Laurie Ruberg (lfruberg@gmail.com).

    (b)   We will have an MC to keep the program flowing. We ask our CUMC community to be prepared to share loving stories and testimonials about the Steele family.

    3. There is no charge for the special luncheon for the Steele family. Instead, we ask the CUMC community to contribute towards a Love Offering. These donations can be given to Carla or in a specially marked envelope added to the Sunday offering. Please make these donations by June 1st.

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to Donita Rush, chair of the CUMC Connect Team, Diann Nickerson, CUMC Family Life Coordinator, or Laurie Ruberg, chair of the Staff Parish Relations Committee.

We sincerely hope you can join us for this very special event to celebrate and show our love for the Steele family.

    –Laurie
